The Human Resources/Payroll Specialist is a dual-role involving full spectrum human resources and Payroll responsibilities. This role is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level in the following HR functional areas: benefits administration, employee relations, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, and employment law compliance. The Payroll Specialist component of this position is responsible for overall payroll operations.
The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, who is just as comfortable working autonomously as with a team.
The candidate will be expected to perform the following responsibilities:

  • Administers various human resource plans and procedures for all company personnel; assists in the development and implementation of employee handbook and personnel policies and procedures, in conjunction with senior management
  • Performs benefits administration to include claims resolution, change reporting and communicating benefit information to employees
  • Conducts new-employee orientations; monitors career-pathing program
  • Handles employee relations counseling, outplacement counseling and exit interviewing.
  • Maintains company organization charts and the employee directory
  • Maintains compliance with regulations concerning employment
  • Address employees’ payroll inquiries in a timely and professional manner
  • Maintain confidentiality and accuracy of records, including job changes, salary updates, changes in work schedule
  • Vendor selection and management – e.g., benefits
  • Acquire proficiency with the terms and content of various agreements and effectively administer the included provisions as it relates to employee’s pay
  • Assist and support manager(s) in various aspects of payroll functions including but not limited to verification, data issues, sign-off
  • Ensure data from various sources are accurately and timely extracted to be processed
  • Provide timely responses for internal inquiries for payroll information from employees, managers, other departments and senior management
  • Assist with the preparation of standard and ad-hoc reports, and requested analytics relative to payroll activities as requested
  • Ensure confidentiality of all pay data
  • Participates as needed in special department projects

Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree in related field
  • 3-5 years’ human resource experience preferred
  • 2 years of recent experience managing payroll required
  • Solid understanding employment regulations
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Intermediate level proficiency or higher with MS Excel and PowerPoint is required
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communications skills
